The Department

Alfred Hospital's Radiology Department is one of Melbourne's leading tertiary teaching and trauma hospitals.

The Role

The Grade 3 General Radiographer is a leadership role working with and at the direction of the Grade 4 General X-ray Supervisors. The successful candidate will rotate through all aspects of general x-ray including inpatients, outpatient, emergency, theatre and mobile radiography. There is a requirement to participate in after-hours shift and on call services due to the department's 24-hour operation.

Your role would be to provide supervision and leadership across general x-ray services by:

  • Facilitating daily operations
  • Providing training, feedback and support to staff
  • Communicating effectively and respectfully
  • Promoting a culture of safety
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participating in quality improvement and change projects
  • Participating fully in clinical work to provide the best possible radiographic examinations ensuring patient comfort, welfare and safety in accordance with departmental protocols, ethics and code of conduct
  • Other duties as required by the Grade 4 General X-ray supervisors and/or Chief Radiographer

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Radiations or equivalent
  • Eligibility for A.S.M.I.R.T. Statement of Compliance
  • National Registration with AHPRA to practice as a Medical Imaging Technologist
  • Victorian Department of Health Use Licence
  • Evidence of CPD in line with registration requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team worker
