Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Drafter to join our growing electrical engineering team.  This is a genuine opportunity to expand your technical capabilities across multiple project types—from underground mining infrastructure and surface processing facilities to industrial fuel systems and defence work.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working on complex, large-scale projects and is confident using AutoCAD to produce high-quality electrical drawings and documentation.

What you'll be doing:

Reporting to the Lead Electrical Designer your responsibilities will include-

• Preparing and updating electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment layouts for mining and industrial projects using AutoCAD
• Collaborating closely with Electrical Engineers and Designers as well as other disciplines to deliver accurate, coordinated designs
• Ensuring drawings comply with all relevant Australian Standards and electrical codes
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from engineers and clients
• Manage project-specific drafting setups and standards, aligning with company and client specifications.
• Review vendor drawings and design data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Meet project schedules and adhere to man-hour budgets for assigned tasks.
• Prepare and maintain drawing registers, revision control, and project documentation

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills

• 3-7 years as an electrical drafter (mining, resources, or heavy industry experience essential)
• Advanced AutoCAD proficiency with electrical drafting experience (2D essential, 3D advantageous)
• Understanding of Australian electrical standards and mining/industrial design requirements
• Strong proficiency in developing electrical drawings for industrial plants including single line diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts and installation drawings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing quality and accuracy
• Ability to work to deadlines and project requirements
• Team-focused attitude and clear communication skills

Highly Regarded Skills

• Familiarity with underground mining electrical systems or processing plant infrastructure
• Knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, or power distribution design
• Formal qualifications in electrical engineering, drafting, or related technical disciplines
