Extrusion Machine Operator

You will run a direct expansion extrusion line that turns quality ingredients into consistently on spec snacks. You will set up and operate upstream big bag, mixing, and conveying, control preconditioning and moisture, run the extruder and cutter, and coordinate with the dryer and flavour area so density, moisture, and texture stay in range. You will complete checks and records accurately, escalate early, and stop for safety or quality when needed.

• Start up, run, adjust, and shut down the big bag system, mixers, screw conveyors, extruder, water cooling, air transport, and silos as per standard work. Maintain clear communication with the flavour area when changing feeder speeds or other upstream conditions.
• Set and monitor feed rate, barrel temperatures, screw speed and torque or amps, die pressure, and cutter speed to meet product specs for expansion and bulk density. Complete density and moisture checks at the required frequency.
• Coordinate with the belt dryer and flavour system operators on set points and adjustments that affect moisture and texture.
• Record times, temperatures, test results, raw usage, waste, and downtime, complete process control sheets and system entries accurately and on time.
• Follow GMP, HACCP, and site procedures, verify required checks, and hold or report any non conforming product.
• Execute dry cleanouts and changeovers, apply lockout tagout for intrusive tasks, support maintenance with basic care and work requests.

• Experience operating food extrusion or comparable continuous processing equipment, snack extrusion experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of preconditioning, moisture control, and how settings influence expansion and density.
• Confidence with HMIs and basic test equipment for moisture and density checks.
• Strong safety mindset, LOTO and machine guarding discipline, good GMP and HACCP habits.
• Clear communicator who coordinates well with upstream and downstream teams, calm under pressure, and attentive to detail.

This role is based at our Sumner Park manufacturing site. Shift work may include days, afternoons, nights, and some weekends during peak demand.
