The Company

Fenner Conveyors, part of the Michelin Group, is the world leader in providing engineered conveyor solutions for mining and industrial applications. We offer a range of products and services from the design and supply of complete conveyor material handling solutions through to service, installation maintenance and diagnostics services.

Due to continued demand for our products and service, we're recruiting a Laboratory Technician to join the team at our manufacturing plant in West Footscray.

What you'll be doing:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the conveyor belt testing laboratory, ensuring all tests are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and industry standards.
  • Physical testing of belt samples, fabrics and fibres. Testing and comparison of results with standards to create belt certificates.
  • Schedule and prioritize testing activities to meet client requirements as per the schedule provided by the planning team.
  • Maintain laboratory procedures, test methods & quality control protocols defined as per the Australian and ISO standards.
  • Manage all the measuring equipment calibration activities in the laboratory.
  • Identify and troubleshooting issues related to testing procedures or equipment, implementing corrective actions as needed.

About you:

  • Competent to advanced level knowledge of relevant Australian Standards for test methods
  • Previous experience working in a material testing laboratory
  • Experience in manufacturing or heavy engineering environment (desirable)
  • Basic knowledge of quality controls for testing processes
  • Experience working with a quality management system /structure
  • Self-managed, energetic, and driven individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • A mechanical mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multi-task
