About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our team at Le Roi Cafe' in Mentone, Victoria. As a contract role, this is an exciting opportunity for a skilled culinary professional to contribute their expertise to the continued success of our busy cafe. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes that showcase our commitment to fresh, seasonal ingredients and exceptional customer service.

What you'll be doing

1. Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes from our diverse menu, ensuring consistent quality and presentation
2. Collaborating with the kitchen team to develop new menu items and seasonal specials
3. Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient work environment in the kitchen
4. Adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations
5. Providing guidance and mentorship to junior kitchen staff
6. Assisting with inventory management and ordering of supplies

What we're looking for

1. At least 3 years of experience as a Chef in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant environment
2. Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious, visually appealing dishes
3. Excellent time management, multitasking and problem-solving abilities
4. A team-oriented mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house staff
5. Working knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
6. Strong communication and customer service skills
