About CatholicCare Central Queensland

CatholicCare Central Queensland is a leading community service provider with offices across Central Queensland. Specialising in the delivery of a wide range of quality social services including aged care, disability care, counselling, psychology, family relationship support and mediation and domestic and family violence response, we offer diverse and rewarding careers in busy and dynamic environments.

As part of a program funded by the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services, the Family Support Worker provides a range of interventions to support families and children experiencing vulnerability. These interventions aim to identify, report and reduce harm or risk of harm, prevent crises or problems from arising or escalating, and stabilise or maintain the wellbeing of families.

The role focuses on strengthening the capability and capacity of families with children and young people who find themselves in vulnerable circumstances. Using a case management model, you will work to build family resilience, support caregivers in strengthening their caring and parenting capacity, and help families re-engage with their communities. You will also provide education to parents and carers to build stronger relationships between children and caregivers.

This position involves regular travel throughout the Childers and Gin Gin areas, with a fleet vehicle provided for work-related travel. You will ensure services are delivered in accordance with relevant funding guidelines and participate actively in local networking and inter-agency collaboration, such as Local Level Alliance meetings and other government or non-government forums.

Qualifications and Experience

Preferred:

  • Diploma in social, community or human services; or demonstrated relevant experience gained through previous appointments, services, or study at an equivalent level.
  • Case management experience and strong case note writing skills.
  • Current C or CA class Driver's Licence (QLD).

In addition, you will demonstrate:

  • Capacity to provide appropriate intake, support, information, referral, and case management for clients.
  • Proven skill in managing conflict in a solution-focused and client-centred manner.
  • Ability to complete data entry and program reporting in line with funding agreements and CatholicCare requirements.
  • Competence in adhering to legal standards regarding confidentiality and privacy.
  • Strong cultural capability for working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
  • Proficiency in digital literacy to ensure accurate documentation within CatholicCare's data management system, CSnet.

The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.

All offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of relevant screening and background checks, including an Australian Federal Police check, an NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
