The Sushi Factory seeks a talented Sushi Maker to join our already skilled team. The ideal candidate should be flexible with their availability. For the right candidate, this role can be 4 days part-time or 5 days full-time. While experience as a sushi maker is highly preferable, we are willing to consider candidates that have minor experience in roll making and are eager to learn advanced techniques such as making nigiri sushi and slicing sashimi. Being a natural communicator, the successful candidate will build relationships and work autonomously with high levels of self-initiative within a strong team environment. We provide genuine opportunities for growth and development and our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality sushi and sashimi to our customers. This opportunity will see the successful candidate provide customer service and on occasion assist in the retail market.

Your role

This role will see you work at the forefront of our sushi bar. With genuine growth opportunities, you will be able to expand your sushi-making skills by working alongside highly experienced Japanese Sushi Chefs.  You will work part of a vibrant and culturally diverse team, reporting to the Head Sushi Chef and General Manager – Retail. Areas of responsibility for this role include:

·       Sushi preparation: Skilfully prepare a wide variety of sushi dishes including nigiri, sashimi, maki and speciality rolls.

·       Ensure the highest standards of ingredient quality.

·       Adhere to strict food safety protocol when handling seafood.

·       Engage with customers at the sushi bar and provide retail customer service across the seafood market.

·       Collaborate effectively with sushi staff to ensure a smooth flow of service.

Experience, qualifications & personal attributes

Essential

Previous experience as a sushi roll maker

Knife experience

Ability to work efficiently and under pressure

Customer service experience

Good personal presentation

Ability to work well with others and be a team player

Ability to take instruction

Strong work ethic
