Muswellbrook High School, located in the Upper Hunter Valley, is built on the land of the Wanaruah and Kamilaroi people. With a population of 750 students, approximately 25% of whom identify as Indigenous, our highly qualified and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff work together to create an environment that truly embodies our school motto, 'Striving for Excellence in a School that Cares'. We use a Raising Excellence framework that utilises above and below the line philosophy's encompassing positive education and social/emotional intelligence to further develop student wellbeing and achievement. The school is committed to developing the whole person through a broad curriculum which nourishes academic, sporting, cultural and performing arts achievement. We have strong relationships with the mining, agriculture and STEM industries to further enhance our school curriculum. We are an inclusive school community, catering for the diverse learning needs of all students, including our inclusion and support faculty and fostering the talents of HPGE students by providing enrichment opportunities for all students throughout their high school journey. We promote successful educational pathways that include SBAT's, tertiary study or employment. Our school programs and initiatives are well supported by an active parent community.
Selection Criteria- Approval to teach special education and/or demonstrated experience teaching students with a variety of disabilities including mild to moderate intellectual disability, emotional and behavioural difficulties and autism spectrum disorder in a secondary school setting.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate curriculum and tailor learning experiences to student interests and strengths, ensuring the effective implementation of Personalised Learning and Support Plans, Personalised Learning Plans, and Behaviour Support Plans.
Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work proactively and professionally as a part of a collaborative team including parents/carers, staff members, students and external agencies.
- Demonstrated success in using data to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive programs underpinned by effective behaviour management and evidence based wellbeing strategies.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
