Disability Support Worker/ Empowerment Facilitators. Positions Available Northern suburbs

Are you passionate about making a difference?

We seek passionate and enthusiastic support workers to provide innovative, person-centered support to people living with a disability in the community. Be an Empowerment facilitator and assist participants to build their capacity and independence, skill-building and access their community through social inclusion.

This is a very rewarding and fulfilling position.

Potential employees will start on a casual contract with the opportunity to become part-time as workload increases.

You will work with individuals and groups within our simulated training houses, within-participant homes and our many programs within the community.

Empowering Futures is a learning environment based around training to give participants the empowerment to have a voice, make their own choices and take control and plan for their future. We work alongside participants to assist them to learn skills for self-advocacy, living skills, life skills and social inclusion.

We provide training in living and life skills that are based on the learning style, needs, and goals of each individual. This is to ensure a person-centered approach empowers individuals with the skills and tools to achieve maximum results and live a more independent lifestyle of their choice with fewer supports.

We pride ourselves on delivering individually tailored support to enhance the quality of life for our participants and their families through our programs/ workshops and 1:1 training support in participants own homes, the community and our simulated training house. We offer short term respite to our existing participants

What are we looking for?

People that are ready for an immediate start.

We are looking for people that want to make a difference and empower people with disability. Who have had experience in the disability sector and are confident to support complex individuals with patience and care.

You will need to be flexible, adaptable and reliable.

You need to want to enjoy coming to work.

You will work around the needs of each person, so we need you to be reasonably flexible. Our hours of work range between 7 am until 9 pm Monday to Friday. Weekend work is available including some possible respite over night hours. So please have good availability.

You will:

  • Provide direct support to individuals within their own home assisting them to learn all areas of independent living skills.
  • Manage complex behaviours
  • Transport training
  • Road safety
  • Social inclusion. Assisting with linking into the community and being sustainable
  • Assist with programs and workshops.
  • Life skills training
  • Respite
  • Personal care support
  • Shopping and appointments

Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate 3 in Community Services, Disability or equivalent.
  • Current Working with Children check.
  • NDIS worker check
  • NDIS Orientation Module certificate
  • First Aid certificate
  • Infection control training certificate
  • Covid Vaccine certificate
  • Current Driver's License
  • Own reliable vehicle and comprehensive car insurance.
  • Proficient English language with good communication skills.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Have all the above and if successful, ready for an immediate start.

Desirable requirements:

  • Current Senior First Aid
  • Current Manual Handling Certificate
  • Mental health first aid
  • Lived experience.
  • Autism awareness
  • MAPA training
  • Trauma training
  • Seizure management and medication
  • medication training
