About the Role
This role will promote, facilitate, and support the growth and sustainability of cricket across the Mid-West Region, based in the Department Creative Industries, Tourism & Sport's Mid-West Office, in Geraldton. This is a full-time position reporting through to the Area Manager – Country.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with the Mid-West Regional Cricket Board on a regular basis to ensure an aligned strategic direction for all cricket across the region.
- Build, maintain and leverage relationships with key regional stakeholders including clubs, associations, schools/school ambassadors, state and local government, local media and local business.
- Build, maintain and leverage relationships with schools, and School Ambassadors across the Mid-West region to help plan and facilitate the delivery of school cricket programs and carnivals.
- Work to facilitate strong relationships between schools and clubs so there is a clear pathway into community cricket programs and competitions that are reflective of population and diversity of the Mid-West Region.
Provide leadership and management for both paid and unpaid resources required to support the delivery of cricket programs in schools and the communities across the region.
Work with Regional Cricket Stakeholders (Mid-West Regional Cricket Board, Regional Associations, and clubs) to develop the optimal junior participation pathway for boys and girls across the Mid-West Region – from Cricket Blast to Junior formats and into Senior Cricket.
- Connect clubs and associations with club development and volunteer management resources and activities to help build their capacity and provide quality cricket environments for all their members and participants.
- Work with the WAC Country Cricket Pathway Specialist in the coordination and delivery of coach development and accreditation programs as well providing optimal support to the development of identified talented cricketers through pathway programs and regional academies.
- Ensure all regional program and participation data is current and accurately recorded in the Australian Cricket systems.
Promote and maximise the utilisation of Australian Cricket digital and technology platforms both internally and by clubs and associations.
Manage both local WAC and Regional Cricket Board costs that are directly controllable within agreed financial parameters.
- Undertake other tasks as required by the Mid-West Regional Cricket Board in consultation with the Area Manager – Country.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need the following:
- Current Community Coaching Accreditation (Level One), or equivalent
- Relevant experience in community sport development and program delivery
- Demonstrated experience in networking and stakeholder engagement.
- Sound knowledge of the game of cricket in terms of avenues for growing participation
- An understanding of techniques and competencies required to develop sporting skills and abilities in children and youth.
- An understanding of the WA school system to optimise the delivery of cricket programs.
- Understanding of how community clubs and associations operate and the challenges they face.
- Knowledge of contemporary volunteer management practices
- High level organisational skills to manage the logistics associated with the planning and implementation of strategy to deliver required outcomes.
- Sound analytical skills to inform strategy development.
- Understanding and ability to apply inclusion and diversity principles in all areas of operation.
- Developed written skills to produce high quality written plans and reports.
- Strong verbal and presentation skills to be able to liaise, engage and manage stakeholder relationships at all levels.

- 'C' class driver's license
