About the role
The Traffic Officer plays a pivotal role in investigating and resolving road safety and traffic-related issues. This position will help ensure that the road network operates safely and efficiently, while also addressing public enquiries and concerns in line with legislative requirements.
As a Traffic Officer, you will be responsible for collaborating with government bodies, community organisations, and internal stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes to create safer, more efficient streets for our community.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Diploma qualification in Civil or Traffic Engineering OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in undertaking traffic and road safety investigations, combined with ongoing professional development
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
Your experience demonstrates:
- Working knowledge of the Safe Systems approach to road safety, traffic legislation and statutory instruments including relevant traffic and road safety policies and guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience in the investigation, review and resolution of road safety, traffic and parking matters with the ability to identify innovative solutions which meet legislative and statutory requirements whilst delivering quality outcomes to the community
- Experience in researching and the interpretation of traffic reports and surveys, crash data and on-site inspections along with knowledge of traffic management devices, intersections, road geometry and traffic facilities to identify appropriate treatments.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and consulting with the community including schools, aged care, community and business groups with a proven ability to negotiate successful outcomes
- Knowledge of the operations of the Local Transport Forum (formerly Local Traffic Committee) including the ability to prepare technical reports and associated documentation
- Proven ability to provide high level oral and written communication to a wide range of audiences both internally and externally.

- *The commencing salary for this position is up to $92.9k per year. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $107.7k per year on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation.*
- We have a permanent full time role available.
- This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
- We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite
- This role is located at Erina Depot.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
