
Accountant – Aged Care

About the Role
This full-time permanent position is ideal for an experienced Accountant looking to contribute to a purpose-driven organisation in the aged care industry. Working in a collaborative team, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, and supporting financial operations across multiple client organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate general ledgers and financial statements
- Perform monthly reconciliations and assist with financial reporting and forecasting
- Support budgeting and management reporting processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and relevant regulatory frameworks
- Liaise with auditors and contribute to audit preparation and interim audit processes
- Assist with interpreting funding models, especially those applicable in the aged care sector (e.g., Medicare, residential care funding)
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and process documentation
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making across client organisations
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience in aged care
- A strong understanding of the aged care revenue streams and billing transactions
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian accounting standards and practices
- Strong understanding of financial compliance, internal controls, and reconciliation processes
- Experience using Care Systems
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a hybrid work environment
- A collaborative approach to teamwork and the ability to support and mentor junior staff
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving organisation.
