YOUR ROLE
The Senior Advisor, Reportable Conduct is a full time ongoing position within the Reportable Conduct team (RCT). The RCT is designed to collaborate directly with schools to support them in fulfilling their legal duties, reportable conduct, and child safety obligations.
The Senior Advisor, Reportable Conduct will progress MACS' responsibilities to meet the requirements established in the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Schemes. A commitment to the mission of Catholic education and promoting strong, shared leadership, creativity and innovative practice is a required component of the role.
This role would suit an applicant who will have expertise in managing child safety, legal compliance, and reportable conduct cases, with strong knowledge of Victorian Child Safe Standards and investigative practices. They should possess excellent case management, decision-making, and collaboration skills, along with resilience and cultural awareness to navigate sensitive and complex matters effectively. A relevant qualification in law, social work, education, or related fields, coupled with a commitment to the mission of Catholic education, is essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Maintain oversight and manage reportable conduct cases commencing from notification about a possible reportable conduct matter through to its conclusion. This requires an excellent understanding of the Victorian Reportable Conduct Scheme, and associated legislation and regulations (e.g., Victorian Child Safe Standards).
- Manage reportable conduct matters according to the requirements of MACS internal policies, Ministerial Order 1359 (MO 1359), and requirements from the Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP).
- Maintain the integrity and privacy of the reportable conduct matter and treat all materials confidentially.
- Conduct intake and assessment of matters reported to MACS to enable the prioritisation of meeting regulatory requirements.
- Oversee and support investigations into reportable allegations, including providing authoritative advice to investigators, and maintaining accurate records of these investigations.
- Analyse the investigation report through the assessment of allegations, process of investigation, assessment of due process, evidentiary thresholds, and reliability of evidence.
- Diligent decision-making and excellent record-keeping are required throughout to culminate in the finalisation of the investigation report.
ABOUT YOU
- You possess a degree in law, social work, teaching, or a related field, with expertise in child safety frameworks, investigations, or regulatory compliance.
- You have demonstrated experience in managing reportable conduct cases, including conducting assessments, leading investigations, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- You excel in critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound decision-making, particularly in handling sensitive and complex cases within tight timelines.
- You bring a child-centred approach that prioritises the wellbeing and rights of children while maintaining procedural fairness and confidentiality.
- You are an effective communicator and collaborator, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders, including schools, families, investigators, and regulatory bodies.
- You are resilient, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning, with a dedication to promoting child safeguarding in alignment with Catholic education values.
