The opportunity

Our client is a community focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available an APS5 level qualified Actuary to join their Analytics, Data & Actuarial Division.

  • Richmond or Geelong location plus hybrid work-from-home
  • 12 month initial contract + 12 month extension, rates fully negotiable
  • Role only open to Australian Citizens - Federal government client

The role

As an APS5 Actuary, your responsibilities will include:

  • Extracting, cleansing and preparing of data from multiple sources, in particular the data warehouse, and advising on appropriate data checks for reasonableness.
  • Updating and development of regular performance monitoring.
  • Supporting the Scheme Actuary Division to fulfill statutory requirements of the NDIS Act 2013 including the provision of data and analysis for reporting to the Board, Minister and for the purpose of public data sharing.
  • Utilising statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to undertake analytical work on a range of tasks, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects and cost benefit analyses.
  • Undertaking ad hoc modelling requests and report production.
  • Effectively communicating (verbally and in writing) the progress of work responsibilities and outcomes of work undertaken.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Possess relevant academic qualifications such as tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Studies or Mathematics/Statistics, progressing towards Associate and/or Fellowship qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in similar actuarial role
  • Completed professional development - Actuarial education Part I, and working towards Part II
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement, ideally proven in larger corporate, government or insurance organisations
