Police Security Services Branch (PSSB) is a business unit of SAPOL. Through the deployment of Police Security Officers (PSOs), PSSB assists frontline service delivery of SAPOL's operational requirements and provides a range of security services to the public sector.

The primary functions of PSSB are the provision of:

• Protective security services to designated South Australian government critical infrastructure, high risk assets and security guards at key Government buildings within the Adelaide CBD;
• A whole-of-government alarm monitoring service;
• Assisting SAPOL in security operations;
• Providing operational frontline support in the form of security of people, places and property; and
• Other duties as directed.

The Senior Police Security Officer is appointed to PSSB by the Commissioner of Police pursuant to the Police Act 1998.

Physical Security Section / District Support Section

The Senior Police Security Officer is responsible for assisting and supporting the Police Security Officer Sergeant in the effective planning, rostering, supervision and coordination of frontline staff performing either uniform static or mobile patrol duties, and other tasks pertaining to the security of people, places and property on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis. The incumbent may be rotated through Physical Security Section (PSS) or the District Support Section (DSS) at the discretion of PSSB management which may include shift work over a 7-day roster or day shift positions.

The Senior Police Security Officer is required to exercise a range of authorities provided by the Police Act 1998 and as described within the Police Regulations 2014 and other legislation, and may be required to carry and use/wear any equipment provided by the employer, in compliance with SAPOL instructions or policy that applies to Health, Safety & Welfare in the workplace (including handcuffs, baton, defensive spray, ECD and firearm).

Special Conditions

• The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check.
• The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent.
• Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required.
• The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL's iEngage program.

Salary

OPS4 - $76,561 - $80,256 per annum.
