Austi Beach cafe is located right across the road from the famous Austinmer Beach in Wollongong. Our committed team of chefs will cater to differing tastes by offering a wide variety of homemade cuisine using the freshest ingredients and preparing your meals from scratch, with love, every time. With both great food and exceptional service, our valued customers are left coming back for more.

Currently, we are seeing an experienced and enthusiastic Chef to join their dynamic kitchen team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent culinary skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Position Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Responsible for the planning and directing of food preparation, cooking, and presentation in the kitchen.
  • Work with Cooks for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies.
  • Work with Restaurant Manager and kitchen staff to plan menus that are flavorful and popular with customers.
  • Monitor and ensure food quality, quantity, taste and presentation are in accordance with the menu and customer preference at all times.
  • Ensuring food meet exceptional standard for both quality and quantity.
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, mentoring and supervision of kitchen staff.
  • Advise on cooking methods and practices.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Keeping the kitchen fully equipped with all the tools and inventory
  • Organizing, employing, training new staff and motivating staff in the kitchen and on the restaurant floor
  • Assist team members with food prep and recipe creation to serve and pack away after meals as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant qualifications.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience as a Chef.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
  • Creativity in food preparation and presentation, with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities under pressure.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and inspire a diverse team.

What we offer?

  • Competitive Salary: $70,000 to 80,000 + plus superannuation.
