We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Assistant (Special Needs) to join our dynamic teaching team, commencing Term 1, 2026. This full-time education assistant role is an opportunity to join a dynamic Primary School team and shape a flourishing learning community grounded in Gospel truth.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support students' learning, including those with additional needs, by preparing materials and assisting with implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Foster student dignity, independence, self-esteem, and active participation in learning.
  • Promote positive interactions and appropriate behavior among students using effective classroom management strategies.
  • Provide pastoral care to ensure students are well-prepared and emotionally supported for learning.
  • Assist teachers by observing, recording, and providing feedback on student learning and behaviour.
  • Work with students in both classroom and learning support environments.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • A personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian
  • church
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, parents, staff, and other professionals
  • A commitment to pastoral care, with an understanding of social issues that impact young children
  • Ability to act with discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times
  • Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
  • National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable:

  • Cert IV Education Assistant (Special Needs) or a related qualification and/or experience
  • Knowledge of child development and early intervention strategies
  • Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or additional behavioural, social, or emotional needs
  • First Aid qualifications
