Pilbara Resource Group is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Project Geologist to join our growing team across multiple open-pit iron ore operations in Western Australia. This is a dynamic, full-time role offering exposure to the entire mining supply chain from pit operations through to crushing, stockpile blending, haulage, rail, and shipping.

About the Role

You'll have the opportunity to work across several active sites, supporting geological functions that directly impact production, planning, and logistics. This is a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all elements of the business in a small, agile company where your input matters and learning is constant. With new pits coming online, this is a rare opportunity to be involved from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-pit geological mapping, sampling, and interpretation.
  • Monitor ore boundaries and support dig plan optimisation.
  • Oversee geological data collection and ensure QA/QC compliance.
  • Collaborate with mining, crushing, and logistics teams to ensure efficient ore movement and blending.
  • Contribute to stockpile management and reconciliation processes.
  • Support haulage planning and coordinate with rail and shipping teams.
  • Deliver clear and timely geological reporting to support operational decisions.
  • Participate in safety and environmental compliance initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, Earth Sciences, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years' experience in open pit mining, ideally within iron ore.
  • Proficiency in Surpac for geological modelling and interpretation.
  • Strong Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Strong geological logging, mapping, and interpretation skills.
  • Familiarity with grade control estimation, wireframing, and resource evaluation principles.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and time management skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass site medical and induction requirements.
