Fundamental to the spiritual care services and partnering with our incredible team to promote and support the integral importance of spirituality to a person's wellbeing, this vital position focuses on meeting the spiritual, religious and emotional needs of residents, families and staff within our Wembley Residential Aged Care (RAC) home. With deep respect and authentic curiosity embracing spiritual, cultural and religious diversity this role models Mercy Care's Mission Ethos, Values and Ethics.
About you
We're seeking a dedicated Spiritual Care Practitioner with a deep and vibrant spiritual life to support older adults and their families through some of life's most profound transitions. If you're passionate about journeying alongside others with empathy and wisdom and grounded in the Catholic tradition—we'd love to hear from you. In this meaningful role you will:
- Conduct thorough assessments and create personalized care plans using online care management systems to address individual spiritual needs.
- Lead and create spiritual reflections, rituals, and services that honour diverse religious and spiritual traditions.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, building strong relationships and demonstrating emotional maturity and interpersonal skills.
- Use foundational counselling skills to offer emotional support and facilitate group work with sensitivity and respect.
- Organise and manage administrative tasks with excellent planning and computer skills.
- A solid understanding of the spiritual care needs of the elderly and their families, particularly in the context of grief, dying, and death.
In addition, you will have:
- Experience or strong familiarity with Catholic practices and traditions in spiritual care.
- Completion of clinical pastoral education (CPE) or equivalent training.
- National Police Clearance (obtained within the last six months).
