RK Law Queensland is seeking an experienced Criminal Lawyer to establish and grow our criminal practice in Cairns. This is a rare opportunity for a motivated practitioner to take ownership of their work, manage Legal Aid and private clients, and play a key role in expanding our presence in Far North Queensland.

RK Law is a respected Queensland firm with offices in Caloundra and Cairns, focused on criminal, family, and domestic violence matters. We're known for being strong advocates who genuinely care about our clients - we don't back down from a fight, and we're looking for someone with that same determination.

You'll have some autonomy to run and develop the Cairns criminal law practice, supported by an experienced Principal Lawyer and a dedicated team.

Your work will include:

• Managing a variety of criminal and traffic law matters (including Legal Aid files)
• Court appearances in the Magistrates, District, and Supreme Courts
• Liaising with Legal Aid Queensland and participating in the duty lawyer roster
• Assisting occasionally with family law files

• Minimum 2 years post-admission experience in criminal law
• A self-starter who thrives working independently
• Confident advocate with a genuine passion for client outcomes
• Bonus: experience or interest in family law

• Full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days per week) – flexibility to suit your lifestyle
• Salary range $90,000 – $130,000 (pro-rata) depending on experience
