The Community Centre team is made up of a group of diverse customer service professionals. We come from all types of industry backgrounds but share the same love and passion for making our communities great.

At our core we manage booking enquiries for over 35 community centres. It's what happens within those rooms that makes the Gold Coast such a great place to live. Our customers provide regular weekly activities like yoga, martial arts and dance in 35 Community Centres from Ormeau to Coolangatta. Our customers hire our spaces to run everything from Karate and cake decorating classes, social functions and large-scale events with music and dancing We're also the place for auditorium events, hosting everything from theatrical performances to expos.

During the week, our team manage the administration of taking bookings and the operations / logistics on site.  On the weekends and evenings, our casual team members are rostered to take care of our customer's events and our buildings – that's where this position will play a pivotal role.

About the role

The After Hours Team Leader is a temporary part time role available until June 30, 2026. The role is responsible for providing guidance and support to casual Duty Officers who assist our customers to deliver their events and activities across our 35 centres across the City that are available for hire from 7am to 11pm, 7 days a week.

From greeting visitors to maintaining facilities, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our customers have the best experience possible.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Planning the logistics of weekend service delivery including rostering of casual staff
• Deliver City-wide onsite service after-hours and on weekends, involving travel between sites and face-to-face customer engagement
• Monitoring weekend and night venue hire through consistent check-ins
• Assist with weekend setup as necessary, and coach and support ground staff with set-up and pack-down activities
• Provide AV support and troubleshooting
• Ensure that venues are operational, managing minor maintenance and cleaning needs as they arise, and report any repairs or maintenance to the correct department
• Provide escalation support for hirers, venues, AV issues, and operational matters
• Support and mentor a team of Duty Officers including workforce planning and ongoing training and development
• Working as an important part of the team leader group, meeting regularly to ensure overall service consistency and improvement

We're looking for people who have:

• C Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory)
• Ability to work late afternoon - early evening shifts over Friday, Saturday and Sunday
• Ability to problem solve when faced with customer issues or complaints
• Experience in Community Centres as a Duty Manager or similar service focussed industry like Tourist Parks, Hotels and/or Convention Centres, Sporting Venues or Theme Parks is highly regarded
• Ability to identify WHS risks and implement immediate controls in an event environment
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring a small team
