Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is a Strategic Industry Partner for the development of the Australian Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Enterprise with goals to enhance self-reliance, supply chain resilience, and developing a guided weapons manufacturing capability in Australia. The Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO) will oversee the execution of GWEO initiatives.

As Supplier Quality Engineer for the MFC GWEO Program, you will develop, implement, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems to ensure materials, components, and finished products meet required standards. Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, you will embed quality processes throughout production and drive compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. You will also design and apply inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to verify the precision and accuracy of products and equipment, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, resolve issues, and optimise performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide SME advice and guidance on Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Engineering (QE) across the organisation.
  • Act as LMA Quality representative in Supplier Qualification, milestone activities, and approvals.
  • Design, implement, and analyse inspection, testing, and evaluation processes, equipment, and mechanisms.
  • Lead QA reviews, audits, First Article Inspections (AS9102), Failure Review Boards, and Material Review Boards.
  • Manage corrective and preventative actions, non-conformance investigations, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to maintain quality standards, evaluate capabilities, and support approvals and accreditation processes.
  • Lead process improvement, lessons learnt, and causal analysis initiatives.
  • Represent the organisation on contracts and projects, providing innovative solutions to complex quality issues and supporting program and project success.

About you:

  • Extensive QA and QE experience in engineering and/or sustainment projects, ideally with Defence standards.
  • Proven ability to implement and maintain quality management frameworks, including ISO 9001:2015, to achieve operational objectives.
  • Strong experience in auditing, reviews, analysis, assessments, and reporting of quality processes.
  • Skilled in risk management principles, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing performance improvement initiatives (e.g., zero-defect, return-to-green, production excellence plans).
  • Significant experience delivering continuous improvement and process optimisation, including lean manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing experience, with knowledge of casting, machining, and assembly considered desirable.
  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection (AS9102) and AS9100 standards is advantageous.
