Senior Associate – Employment Law

The opportunity

The EY Employment Law team advises our clients on complex labour and employment law projects across geographies. We support organisations through the people-related legal aspects of restructuring, mergers, takeovers and all types of business transformation. To support our practice, we are seeking a Senior Associate  for a 12 months maximum term parental leave cover opportunity within our Employment Law team. There is potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role. 

This is a hybrid position. This role is based in one of our offices in Narrm – Melbourne or Warrang – Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

Providing high quality and strategic employment law advice to internal and external clients (both in Australia and internationally) on all aspects of the employment relationship, from conduct and performance to workforce flexibility and contracts of employmentReviewing and interpreting legislation and industrial instruments for wage and entitlement compliance projects which uses EY's cutting edge data analytics capabilityProviding strategic workforce and industrial relations advice, including developing enterprise agreement strategies, drafting EAs and conducting BOOT analysisAdvising on the employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions and restructures including undertaking employment law due diligenceAdvising clients on workplace change and culture issues including discrimination, bullying, sexual harassment and whistleblowing

Skills and attributes for success     

Experience in an Australian top-tier, mid-tier, boutique employment law firm or Big 4 legal practiceA good understanding and demonstrative knowledge of Australian employment lawCommercially astute and able to talk about the law in a practical wayAn interest in business development and legal technology
