Better and fairer care. Always.
St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and nearly 30,000 people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. We are a microcosm of Australia's health and aged care system and are uniquely positioned to lead and respond to our rapidly changing environment.
We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent's kind of person. Someone who puts excellence, compassion, connection and caring for other people at the heart of everything they do.
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Level 3) to join our Digital & Technology division. Reporting to the Network Operations Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of SVHA's enterprise networks and unified communications platforms-services that directly support clinical safety, staff productivity, and patient outcomes.
The Opportunity
As a Network Engineer (Level 3), you will:
- Be responsible for technically leading a major Data Centre network modernisation project across multiple sites
- Support the design, commissioning and migration of Data Centre network infrastructure and services
- Work with vendors, service providers and stakeholders on the technical delivery of the project to ensure project milestones are delivered within timeframes
- Manage and support internal project, operational and architecture teams
- Execute network changes, troubleshoot incidents, and remediate issues across a multi-site and highly regulated environment.
- Collaborate closely with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and application teams.
- Maintain compliance with standards such as ISO27001, SOCI, and Essential Eight.
About You
You will bring:
- 5+ years' experience in Enterprise and Data Centre network operations
- Strong technical knowledge of Cisco Data Centre and Enterprise networking technologies (Nexus & Catalyst platforms, ACI multi-pod deployments, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers).
- Hands-on experience with VXLAN, ACI, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, Cisco ISE, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, VPN, and routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Cisco Catalyst Centre, PRTG, SolarWinds, NetFlow, ThousandEyes).
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and documentation skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a clinical and operationally sensitive environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA / CCNP (Data Centre, Enterprise or Security), with CCIE or cloud certifications highly regarded.
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification.
Things that work for you:
- Ability to visibly see your impact on the business and its service
- Competitive salary packaging options
- Discounted private health insurance
- Employee Assistance Program for staff and their families
- Access to the Fitness Passport (FP)
At St Vincent's we value inclusivity and diversity and acknowledge the importance of creating a work environment that is welcoming, safe, fair and impartial and invites people from all backgrounds to join us.
