Forensicare provide specialist mental health services at Port Phillip Prison as a sub-contractor to G4S Correctional Services, operating a 30-bed psychosocial rehabilitation unit and a mental health outpatients program.
Occupational Therapists at Forensicare are committed to providing occupationally- focused practice and embrace the opportunity to enable people to identify and address their occupational needs in a strength based, recovery centred manner.
This position is based at the Port Phillip Prison, in the St Pauls unit.
Duties:
- Produces timely OT transfer reports for community, intra-unit and/or CSO population.
- Focuses on the development of life roles and skills required by patients for pro-social living , including a responsible attitude about health care and offending behaviours.
- Consults with patients, carers, key agencies and the clinical team to prepare and implement individual rehabilitation programmes that remain occupationally focussed, harness motivation and balance short and long term perspectives.
- Takes a lead from a discipline perspective in the establishment and maintenance of effective liaison with external agencies.
- Produces discipline-specific reports, file entries and documentation required as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
About You:
- Approved degree in Occupational Therapy and recognised for membership of OT Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.
- Current Registration with the Australlian Health Practitioner's Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
- Atleast 5 years of experience working in mental health.
- Experience of working in a secure environment or atleast a basic understanding of complexities related to working in secure enviornment.
- Awareness of the issues of care delivery in forensic mental health within both prison and hospital environments.
