With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, we're expanding our team and looking for a motivated Junior Draftsperson / Junior Mechanical Engineer to join us.
Role Overview
This is an exciting entry-level role for a technically minded individual eager to develop their drafting and mechanical engineering skills. Working closely with our senior engineers and production team, you'll be responsible for creating technical drawings, supporting design development, and contributing to the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for custom trailers.
- Assist in updating existing designs and technical documentation.
- Translate client requirements into accurate drawings and specifications.
- Support the engineering team in product development and prototyping.
- Perform basic calculations and measurements for structural and mechanical components.
- Liaise with the production team to ensure drawings meet manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant standards and safety requirements.
- Maintain version control and document management of drawings.
- Work closely with senior engineers, production staff, and management.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas to improve products and processes.
Key Skills and Experience
- TAFE diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or related discipline (or currently completing).
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, and materials.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn and develop professionally.
