At Andromeda Robotics, we're not just imagining the future of human-robot relationships, we're building it. Abi is the first emotionally intelligent humanoid companion robot, designed to bring care, conversation, and joy to the people who need it most. Backed by tier-1 investors and with customers already deploying Abi across aged care and healthcare, we're scaling fast, and we're doing it with an engineering-first culture that's obsessed with pushing the limits of what's possible.
This is a rare moment to join: we're post-technical validation, pre-ubiquity, and building out the team that will take Abi from early access to global scale.
Your Role in the ActionAs a Robotics Technician at Andromeda Robotics, you'll be hands-on with the hardware and systems that bring Abi to life. You'll assemble, test, and maintain complex robotic subsystems—from actuators and motors to sensors and embedded electronics—making sure everything works together seamlessly. You'll support the engineering team by troubleshooting issues on the floor, running diagnostic tests, wiring and soldering components, and keeping our robots operating at their best. This is a deeply practical role: you'll spend your time in the lab and workshop, building, fixing, and iterating, ensuring Abi is reliable, safe, and ready for deployment in the real world.
How You'll Make an Impact- Assemble, calibrate, and test robotic subsystems including actuators, joints, and sensor arrays.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs across electrical, mechanical, and embedded systems.
- Support engineers in validating new hardware and software integrations.
- Maintain robots used for development, demos, and customer deployments, ensuring uptime and reliability.
- Document processes, test results, and maintenance logs to feed into continuous improvement.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to solve integration challenges on the ground.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For- Diploma, trade qualification, or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldor equivalent hands-on experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a robotics, mechatronics, or hardware workshop environment.
- Strong practical skills in assembly, wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems.
- Comfortable using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
- A structured, methodical approach to testing and problem-solving.
- Experience with robotic actuators (e.g., Dynamixel, brushless motors) and sensor calibration.
- Familiarity with Linux and ROS environments.
- Exposure to rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing and CNC machining.
- Hands-on experience supporting robots in customer or field environments.
The salary for this position may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional benefits or components based on the specific role. Details will be provided if an employment offer is made.
If you're excited about this role but don't meet every requirement, that's okay, we encourage you to apply. At Andromeda Robotics, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Let's build the future together.
