We are seeking a Darwin-based WORKSHOP SUPERINTENDENT with a strong background in boilermaking to oversee our workshop operations. The successful candidate will manage a team of tradespeople, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and coordinate fabrication and welding projects in accordance with client specifications and project deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
- Lead and support boilermaking tradespeople in fabrication, welding, and assembly tasks.
- Ensure all work complies with Australian safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality requirements.
- Plan, schedule, and prioritize workshop activities to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and materials to ensure safe and effective operation.
- Monitor and control workshop budgets and costs.
- Liaise with project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth project progression.
- Promote a safety-first culture within the workshop and lead safety initiatives.
- Provide training, development, and performance feedback to team members.
ABOUT YOU:
· Trade qualification in Boilermaking (Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a workshop environment.
- Extensive hands-on boilermaking, welding, and fabrication skills.
- Strong understanding of Australian Workplace Health & Safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience working on heavy fabrication projects.
- Knowledge of ISO and quality management systems.
