Technology Commercial Principal

As our highly valued Technology Commercial Principal based in Brisbane your role will provide technical expertise with business acumen to drive the commercial success of the technology operating model and investments across the Enterprise:
- You will lead the direction of strategic technology partnerships.
- Review the technology operating models and tools to identify opportunities to strengthen the alignment with our strategic goals. Including the development of business cases and financial models to support decision making.
- Leveraging your technology experience, you will own the technology contracts and collaborate with the enterprise to identify opportunities to extract more value from existing arrangements.

We enable technologies and services that maintain compliance, improve service consistency and reliability, reduce risk and deliver on new features that make our customers lives easier
Leadership
You are a strategic leader responsible for providing expert guidance, mentoring, and influence. Your role involves shaping strategy, analysing data, and offering recommendations grounded in your specialised financial expertise. You are accountable for fostering a culture of exceptional service, collaboration, excellence, and professionalism that drives the success of both the team and the organisation.
Vendor and Relationship Management
You build, manage, and strengthen professional relationships with key stakeholders and external providers while fostering a customer-centric culture. You oversee and negotiate vendor requirements, ensuring contracts for enterprise technology and services are effectively reviewed, maintained, and aligned with organisational needs.
You are responsible for building strong working relationships while influencing and constructively challenging the CIO and the wider Great Southern Bank leadership team. You provide strategic recommendations, guide partnership delivery, and negotiate outcomes that create positive business value.
Financial Performance
You will collaborate closely with Finance partners to build strong relationships that support the achievement of approved financial targets. Working with the CIO leadership team, you will enhance financial maturity and capability across the group. You are accountable for managing operational costs with a focus on driving efficiencies through innovation, automation, and process improvement. In addition, you will lead the development and maintenance of both short- and long-term forecasts for operational and capital budgets, ensuring accuracy and transparency of all costs in partnership with commercial and finance teams.
Strategy and Planning
You play a key role in delivering the CIO's roadmap and strategy to meet both current and future business needs. You ensure financial and procurement governance requirements are effectively planned and executed. Through thought leadership, you develop innovative financial and procurement solutions that enable the organisation to meet evolving and diverse technology demands across the Enterprise.

About you:

• Extensive experience (typically 10+ years but open) in finance roles.
• Solid background (typically 5+ years but open) in IT finance roles, bringing expertise at the intersection of technology and financial management.
• Experience in technology operating models and design.
• Proven capability in developing business cases and building robust financial models to support decision-making.
• Experienced in influencing and building trusted relationships with senior leaders and executives.
• Demonstrated relationship management, consulting, negotiation and facilitation skills.
• Strong strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to apply commercial and financial principles to enable sound business outcomes.
• Experienced business partner and consultant, with well-developed operational and project management expertise
• Working knowledge of risk management including regulatory requirements, and excellent experience setting up governance frameworks.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging to diverse audiences.
• Adept at researching complex issues and products, and in providing creative, practical and innovative solutions.
• Knowledge in modern financial management, vendor management and technology procurement practices.
