Fitzroy Mining Operations is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects.  In our short history, we have successfully reinvigorated operations at Carborough Downs underground mine, breathed new life into the Broadlea open cut and we also have our new underground longwall mine at Ironbark No.1

Fitzroy currently has multiple ERZ Controller/ Deputy opportunities at our longwall mine, Ironbark No 1.

About the role

As a frontline leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day functioning and performance of the crew.  You will effectively manage people and equipment to carry out planned work activities. This role also has statutory obligations.

The minimum skills and expectations for this role are, but not limited to:

  • Prioritising of activities with the crew to achieve targets.
  • Provide leadership to the crew setting a positive example and assisting the team to achieve their full potential.
  • Clearly define and communicate performance goals and provide regular and objective feedback on performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory requirements and carrying our statutory inspections and mine standards.
  • Ensuring all workers work safely and efficiently whilst carrying out their duties with due regard for quality of work.
  • Complete required levels of reporting as part of information flow on site.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a Queensland First, Second or Third-class Certificate of Competency or a Queensland Mutual Recognition. Or if you are willing to work towards achieving mutual recognition of competency from NSW to QLD.  You will be able to think laterally, have strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
