We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechatronics Engineer to join our Engineering team in developing cutting-edge defence products for land, sea, air, and cyber domains. YYour work will span the full product lifecycle — from concept and design through prototyping, testing, and deployment — ensuring robust performance and reliability in demanding operational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems for defence-grade products, including robotics, sensors, automated platforms, and electromechanical subsystems.
- Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration across embedded platforms and control systems.
- Translate system requirements into detailed designs, component selections, and subsystem specifications.
- Develop system prototypes, conduct lab and field testing, and refine designs based on performance analysis and feedback.
- Contribute to the design of test fixtures, validation protocols, and manufacturing handover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant defence and industry standards for safety, reliability, and performance (e.g., MIL-STD, AS standards).
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews and contribute to architecture decisions affecting overall product integration and lifecycle support.
- Support integration and troubleshooting activities during product commissioning, trials, and customer acceptance processes.
- Document designs, calculations, analysis, and test results to support certification and long-term product support.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years experience in electromechanical product development, preferably in the defence, aerospace, or high-reliability sectors.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, control systems, sensors, actuators, and embedded electronics.
- Proficient in CAD and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS) and integration with control and firmware systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software is essential for this position.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with software, electronics, and systems engineers.
- Understanding of embedded hardware interfaces and control algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with relevant defence standards and quality assurance practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
- Baseline level Australian Defence Security Clearance must be obtainable and maintained.
