Position: Cook
Job types: Permanent full-time
Location: Westfield Southland - 208/1239 Nepean Hwy, Cheltenham VIC 3192
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000/year (plus superannuation)
Start date: as soon as possible

Main responsibilities:

  • Check food items to ensure they meet quality and freshness standards

  • Store ingredients and prepared dishes in appropriate temperature-controlled environments

  • May be involved in designing menus and estimating necessary food supplies

  • Prepare meals that cater to both standard and special dietary needs

  • Operate and adjust ovens, grill, and other kitchen equipment to maintain correct cooking temperatures

  • Season dishes appropriately during the cooking process

  • Arrange and serve food attractively, including sauces, gravies, and garnishes

  • Prepare, flavour, and cook meals for service in restaurants, cafes, or catering operations

  • May assist in instructing and mentoring junior kitchen staff and apprentices

Other requirements are:

· Work Eligibility: Permitted to work permanently with no restriction on hours (Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident preferred)

· Qualifications: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management required

· Previous experience: At least 2 years working as a Cook

· Language: Conversant in English
