Devonport, Tasmania, Australia Synectic Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

At Synectic, we believe strong data frameworks will be a key source of competitive advantage for businesses in upcoming years. They enable data-driven insights and position organisations to harness the full potential of rapidly evolving AI tools.

Internally, we've already begun transforming our technology capabilities — and we're committed to continuously evolving. Now we're looking to extend these capabilities to our clients, helping them unlock similar value.

As part of this strategy, we're seeking a new team member to join us in a Data & AI Consultant role. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of business, data, and emerging technology — and to help shape how these tools are used in real-world settings.

About the Role

You'll work closely with our technology and innovation Principal, supporting internal initiatives and client-facing projects. You'll help design and implement practical solutions using modern data and AI tools, while developing a deep understanding of business needs and financial contexts.

The role is offered on a full time or part times basis, flexible for the right candidate.

What We're Looking For

We're not expecting you to know everything — but we are looking for someone who's curious, capable, and ready to grow. Key attributes include:

  • A natural flair for technology and a desire to continuously learn in the fast-moving data and AI space.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders to understand problems and co-create solutions.

  • A genuine interest in AI tools and agents, and a pragmatic approach to using them effectively and responsibly.

  • Progress toward (or completion of) a bachelor's degree in a business, finance, or a technology-related field.

Experience That Would Be a Bonus

We value attitude and potential over a checklist of skills — but experience or knowledge in any of the following areas would be considered favourably:

  • Exposure to business consulting, accounting, or analytical roles.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and data lake frameworks.

  • Experience with Power BI or other data analytics platforms.

  • Programming skills in Python (especially libraries like pandas, PySpark & NumPy), or alternatively SQL skills would also be useful.

  • Understanding of databases and DBMS, particularly SQL-based systems.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, including tools like Azure AI Foundry and Azure SQL.

  • Basic familiarity with VS Code, GitHub, and AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot.

If you're excited by the idea of helping businesses evolve through data and AI — and you're ready to learn, contribute, and grow — we'd love to hear from you.
