About Us

Established in 1994, Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation (PMMRAC) is a not-for-profit organisation which delivers essential services (power, water and municipal) and community services (environmental health, housing and accommodation facilities) to remote Aboriginal communities across the Pilbara, Gascoyne, and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.

We're seeking a dedicated Accountant to join our team and play a key role in managing our financial operations. This is more than just a numbers role—it's an opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities.

The Role

Based in our Burswood office and reporting to theFinance and Administration Manager, you'll lead day-to-day financial operations and supervise a small finance team. You'll ensure our financial systems are accurate, compliant, and aligned with our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger
  • Supervising and mentoring finance staff
  • Managing cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Preparing financial reports and tax obligations (BAS, IAS)
  • Supporting audits and compliance requirements
  • Contributing to financial planning and policy development
  • Maintaining financial software and systems
  • Providing backup payroll support when needed
  • Inter-office travel between Perth, Port Hedland and Karratha as required

About You

You're an experienced and values-driven finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about making a difference. You will bring:

  • 3+ years' experience in a similar accounting role
  • CPA or equivalent professional qualification
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and accounting systems
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail
  • A proactive, professional approach and willingness to learn
  • Capability to lead, mentor and develop team members
  • Familiarity with additional accounting software
