We are now seeking an experienced and motivated AO3 Communication Officer to support a major government infrastructure program within the Townsville Northern District. This role is offered on a contract basis through to 18 August 2026, with strong potential for extension.

About the Opportunity

This is an excellent chance to contribute to significant planning, pre-construction and construction projects that impact communities across the region. You'll join a supportive Community & Stakeholder Management (CSM) team working on a multi-year infrastructure investment program, delivering communication outputs and stakeholder engagement support that help keep the public informed and engaged.

Your contributions will play a key role in freeing up senior team members to focus on complex, high-priority matters—all while you build your skills in government communication and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support stakeholder engagement activities for low-risk district infrastructure projects
  • Develop and update project webpages, online content and analytics reports
  • Produce project flyers, correspondence, social media content and other communication materials
  • Assist with responses to low-level stakeholder enquiries
  • Manage and maintain the correspondence tracker
  • Source stakeholder contact details, lot information and update consultation systems
  • Attend or support stakeholder meetings alongside Program Engagement Officers
  • Respond to community enquiries through a dedicated 1800 information line

Key selection criteria:

  • Have strong written communication skills and an eye for detail
  • Feel confident engaging with members of the public and stakeholders
  • Enjoy working in a structured team environment
  • Can manage competing tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Have experience in communications, web content, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Are eager to grow within a government-focused communications role.
