Station Governess

GOVERNESS

Reporting to the Station Managers you will provide complete care for the children in the employer's home and perform all tasks that correlate to the care of the children. Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which the children will thrive and develop. Most importantly, you must bring a personality of fun and infectious energy to encourage learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning, preparing and supervising meals and snacks for the children

• Cleaning and washing up after children's meals

• Supervising baths

• Dressing children appropriate to the child's activities

• Washing and ironing children's clothes

• Scheduling and coordinating children's activities

• Undertaking appropriate creative activities with the children

• Undertaking appropriate educational activities with the children

• Undertaking appropriate outdoor activities with the children

• Supervise and assist children with School of the Air and undertake homework responsibilities

• Planning and supervising rest, bed and nap times

• Reading to and with the children

• Tidying children's bedrooms and play areas

• Reinforcing appropriate discipline for the children

• Implementing daily routines

• Completing light housework

• Being adaptable to change routines to be involved in station activities

• Potentially feeding of poddy calves, chickens etc and caring for animals with the children

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Adequate experience or training in caring for children

• Communicate regularly with parent about progress, challenges and all other relevant matters

• High level of patience and empathy

• A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

• A genuine passion for childcare, education, and station life

• Experience supporting children's education

• Current Working with Children check or ability to obtain

• Current advanced first aid certificate
