About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Payroll & HR Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll across multiple entities while supporting HR compliance, reporting, and operational activity. This is a stand-alone senior specialist role suited to someone who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving, and working closely with HR and Finance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll (Primary Focus)

  • Deliver end-to-end weekly/fortnightly payroll using Employment Hero (EH)
  • Maintain accurate payroll and HRIS data
  • Validate time & attendance and ensure correct Award interpretation
  • Process complex pay matters (adjustments, back pays, terminations, redundancies)
  • Lodge STP, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax & workers compensation
  • Complete payroll reconciliations and statutory reporting
  • Support audits and maintain compliance-ready documentation
  • Assist with reporting (e.g., WGEA, workers compensation)
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and system efficiency

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Support employee onboarding/offboarding
  • Maintain compliant employee records
  • Assist with internal audits & Award classification checks
  • Support compliance tracking (visas, qualifications, registrations)
  • Contribute to HR projects and system/process improvements

Systems & Reporting

  • Troubleshoot payroll system issues (EH) and support configuration improvements
  • Provide payroll and workforce reporting to HR and Finance
  • Support labour cost analysis and process optimisation

About You

  • Minimum 5-7 years of end-to-end payroll experience
  • Confident Award interpretation skills (Fast Food/Restaurant or similar)
  • Solid knowledge of Australian payroll legislation
  • Experience with Employment Hero payroll (highly regarded)
  • High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Experience supporting HR operations (advantageous)
