The City of Marion is seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Kitchen Assistant to join our team at the recently redeveloped Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre (MPSCC) – one of Adelaide's premier sporting and community hubs.

This vibrant facility is home to local sports clubs, social groups, private functions, and one of the City of Marion's Neighbourhood Centres. With upgraded kitchens, bars, bistro dining, function spaces, and fitness areas, the MPSCC is a busy, dynamic environment that's buzzing with activity.

About the Role

We're seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to take a hands-on role in delivering high-quality food and beverage service at the Centre. Reporting to the Commercial Kitchen Lead, you'll bring your culinary skills and kitchen expertise to support daily operations, event catering, and bistro service in a dynamic, community-focused environment.

This position suits a chef with several years of experience in commercial kitchens who values variety, teamwork, and the chance to contribute to a positive community space.

Key Responsibilities


• Work closely with the Commercial Kitchen Lead to deliver consistent, high-quality food operations.


• Lead by example in food preparation, presentation, and hygiene, ensuring all meals meet established standards.


• Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.


• Assist in maintaining an efficient, well-organised commercial kitchen.


• Prepare meals for daily service, Centre events, private functions, and catering requirements.


• Supervise and guide kitchen staff, ensuring smooth service and task delegation.


• Manage stock levels and assist with ordering and cost control.


• Contribute to menu development, seasonal updates.


• Collaborate with Centre management and event organisers to deliver exceptional service experiences.

About You

You'll bring:

  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A customer-focused attitude and willingness to adapt to a busy, varied environment.
  • Great communication skills and a passion for working with community and sporting groups.

You'll need:

  • Chef and/or cooking qualifications (Minimum of Certificate lll in Commercial Cookery)
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as rostered
  • A current Driver's Licence
  • Experience in venue operations or event setup/pack down is a plus
