To provide quality musical instrument instruction, to students at Westside Christian College.
About the position
This position provides instrumental music instruction to students in years 7- 12 for Brass instruments (trumpet, trombone and euphonium).
Instructors are able to deliver lessons to students within school hours or outside of hours.
Instructors will invoice the College on a weekly basis for all the lessons taught as per their timetable finalised at the start of term. Instructors are supported by the Instrumental Music Coordinator who deals with the billing of students for lesson fees through the business office at the College.
Instructors are able to choose their working days/hours in consultation with the College and current timetables established with students. It is anticipated that there would be lessons delivered across 1.5 days per week during Term 4 of 2025.
The position is for Independent Contractors and the engagement is as such. As an independent contractor you may sub-contract others to complete your duties on your behalf, as you arrange with the College. This position reports to the College's Instrumental Music Coordinator, with overall supervision from the Head of Secondary.
All these tasks should be undertaken within the Health and Safety policies and procedures established for the College, consistent with the Protestant, biblical basis of the College.
Requirements of the position
While previous experience working with students in this role is desirable, it is not essential. Either way, you will need to demonstrate an aptitude for teaching students.
Other requirements of this position are:
- Experience performing and teaching the instrument/s you intend to teach.
- Technical proficiency for these instruments.
- Experience working with young children and/or young people in individual and group lessons.
- Confidence teaching beginners through to more advanced students (Year 12)
Applicants must hold a current Blue Card or be eligible to obtain a Blue Card before commencing a contract with the College.
The College reserves the right to perform additional qualification, criminal history or other relevant background checks as necessary to this position and you will be notified of any relevant checks if you are offered a contract at the College.
Position hours and pay rates
The hours and pay rates for this position can be discussed with our Instrumental Music Coordinator. As an independent contractor you are responsible for your own billing and other financial arrangements with the College.
