Mai Thai Restaurant is an established and authentic Thai restaurant looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.

We are seeking someone with a deep understanding of Thai ingredients, flavours, and cooking techniques. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef and leading the kitchen team to deliver exceptional Thai cuisine.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Head Chef in the daily operations and management of the kitchen
  • Overseeing the preparation and cooking of all menu items to the highest standards
  • Ensuring consistent quality, presentation and timely delivery of all dishes
  • Supervising, training and mentoring the kitchen team to maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency
  • Monitoring stock levels, placing orders and managing inventory
  • Collaborating with the Head Chef on menu development and implementation
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment
  • Adhering to all food safety and workplace health and safety regulations

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial kitchen
  • Diploma of Hospitality with Cert IV in commercial cookery or equivalent
  • Expertise in Thai cuisine and a passion for Southeast Asian flavours
  • Experience preparing Thai desserts (preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication and team management skills
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving and multitasking abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced environment
