Mai Thai Restaurant is an established and authentic Thai restaurant looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.
We are seeking someone with a deep understanding of Thai ingredients, flavours, and cooking techniques. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef and leading the kitchen team to deliver exceptional Thai cuisine.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Head Chef in the daily operations and management of the kitchen
- Overseeing the preparation and cooking of all menu items to the highest standards
- Ensuring consistent quality, presentation and timely delivery of all dishes
- Supervising, training and mentoring the kitchen team to maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency
- Monitoring stock levels, placing orders and managing inventory
- Collaborating with the Head Chef on menu development and implementation
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment
- Adhering to all food safety and workplace health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial kitchen
- Diploma of Hospitality with Cert IV in commercial cookery or equivalent
- Expertise in Thai cuisine and a passion for Southeast Asian flavours
- Experience preparing Thai desserts (preferred)
- Strong leadership, communication and team management skills
- Excellent time management, problem-solving and multitasking abilities
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced environment
