Join Our Team as a Senior Azure Consultant

Location: Open to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth where we have offices (preferably work-at-office twice a week)

SoftwareOne is seeking a dynamic Senior Azure Consultant to architect, implement, and optimise cutting-edge Azure solutions. This is your opportunity to shape the future of cloud computing while driving innovation across modernisation, AI strategy, cloud security, and adoption frameworks.

About the Role

As an Azure Consultant, you will advise clients on their Azure Cloud strategy, leading workshops, assessing infrastructure, and delivering tailored migration and optimisation plans. You will be instrumental in designing scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud architectures using native Azure tools and automation.

  • Design and implement Azure Landing Zones tailored for core and specialised workloads including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Data, and Machine Learning (ML), ensuring scalability, security, and operational excellence.

  • Lead cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, encompassing re-platforming and re-architecting of legacy systems to align with cloud-native principles and enterprise goals.

  • Architect and deliver Azure solution designs that meet both business and technical requirements, incorporating best practices for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

  • Facilitate technical workshops and cloud advisory engagements, translating complex requirements into actionable strategies and bespoke solution designs.

  • Drive AI adoption journeys by collaborating with Data and AI SMEs to implement platform-level AI technologies. Provide strategic guidance on AI planning across security, cost, reliability, optimisation, and performance dimensions.

  • Establish and enforce robust cloud security frameworks, leveraging Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, and Entra ID to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory mandates.

  • Align cloud strategies with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, enhancing security postures and driving cost optimisation through structured governance and continuous improvement.

  • Provide hands-on expertise in Azure account setup, resource configuration, policy enforcement, and cost management, ensuring seamless onboarding and operational readiness.

  • Champion DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including secure CI/CD pipeline implementation, automated testing, and compliance integration across the development lifecycle.

  • Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using BICEP and Terraform to automate and standardise cloud deployments, ensuring repeatability and scalability.

  • Utilise scripting and IaC languages such as PowerShell or Phyton and to streamline cloud operations, automate tasks, and enhance deployment efficiency.

Client-Facing Skills

  • Exceptional communication and consultative skills to engage senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to capture business requirements and translate them into actionable cloud strategies.

  • Demonstrate deep personal expertise in cloud solutions and migration strategies.

What we need to see from you

Qualifications

  • Full-time work rights in Australia
  • Preferably ability to commute to and work at one of our offices twice a week (in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth)
  • 5+ years of experience in Azure architecture and infrastructure processes.

  • Azure/AWS certifications required.

  • Experience in hybrid/public cloud environments and cloud security practices.

  • Strong team collaboration and independent project delivery capabilities.
