If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to kick-start your career as a Cadet Ranger with the City of Canning Ranger and Community Safety Service (RCSS)
About the role
As a Cadet Ranger, you'll learn on the job while supporting a broad range of compliance and community engagement duties – from patrolling public spaces and investigating breaches, to promoting responsible pet ownership and assisting with fire prevention and local law enforcement.
You'll work closely alongside qualified Rangers and Community Safety Officers, participating in a structured training program aimed at developing your skills and knowledge in various aspects of community safety and environmental management such a Fire Hazard and Animal Management.
Your role will also involve providing exceptional customer service while assisting in the enforcement of relevant legislation and the management of various City facilities and services.

What will you be doing in the role?

Undertaking on-the-job training and completing courses such as Certificate IV Local Government, and Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills (ROCS) 1 & 2

Developing a sound understanding of City policies, procedures and legislative requirements

Education, investigation and enforcement of state and local legislation

Animal control and management
-
Parking control and management
-
Fire Hazard Management and Inspections

Litter control and protection of Council properties

Being mentored by experienced Rangers and Community Safety Officers
About you and what you'll bring
-
You've successfully completed Year 10 (at a minimum) and can demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills

You have a strong desire to learn new skills and are fully committed to completing assigned courses funded by the City of Canning

You're keen on compliance, local law enforcement, animal management, public safety and environmental protection

You have experience or willingness to learn Animal Handling techniques

You have initiative and are able to work independently, as well as exceptionally with others

You have valid driver's license and can commit to working a 7 day roster

You're able to obtain a satisfactory National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, Security Officer License and First Aid Certificate

A positive can-do attitude and keen to build a career in local government Community Safety
