As a Senior Knowledge & Technology Transfer Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in bridging academic innovation with real-world impact in the life sciences sector. You'll have the opportunity to assess cutting-edge inventions, secure intellectual property rights, and negotiate complex commercial deals. Working closely with researchers and industry partners, you'll drive the commercialisation of ground-breaking technologies, potentially creating start-ups and shaping the future of healthcare and biotechnology.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate and Protect Intellectual Property: Assess invention disclosures for patentability and commercial potential, facilitating IP protection for innovative technologies.
  • Drive Commercialisation Strategies: Conduct market analyses, identify commercial partners, and structure deals to maximise the impact of University innovations.
  • Lead Complex Transactions: Negotiate term sheets, license agreements, and investment deals for new start-ups, collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Foster Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain relationships with researchers, industry partners, and investors to promote University technologies and capabilities.

You are an experienced professional with a strong background in life sciences and technology transfer, possessing excellent analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex commercial transactions in an academic environment.

Your new team - Research, Innovation and Commercialisation

Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) is a specialist team dedicated to enabling the University's research and enterprise mission working closely with our academics, professional colleagues, industry partners, funding agencies and government agencies. We have a passion to see our academics and their collaboration partners succeed, achieve research excellence and translate their discoveries into real-world innovation and impact. RIC operates University-wide across all ten Faculties and Chancellery. At a high level our capabilities include:

  • Strategic relationship development with Industry partners, including Innovation Precincts
  • Business development, research marketing and communications, intellectual property management and technology transfer mechanisms in partnership with the investment community
  • Proposal funding submission and post-award support including contracts and research accounting from a wide range of funders. Specialised services for larger schemes such as MRFF, ARC and NHMRC Centres, ITRPs and CRCs and international programs.
