ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

The Sweet Potato Kitchen is looking for an experienced Prep Chef to join us on Mondays and Tuesdays. This role is focused on bulk food preparation, organisation, and kitchen systems – not service.

You'll work directly with the founder at first, learning recipes and processes. Soon after, you'll take the lead in setting up the kitchen, managing prep lists, and overseeing production with the support of a kitchen hand. The ideal candidate is reliable, organised, and passionate about nourishing, healthy food – with the drive to grow alongside the business.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Bulk preparation and cooking of meals according to recipes
  • Setting up the kitchen day, prep lists, and managing workflow
  • Packaging, labelling, and storing meals safely
  • Maintaining a clean, food-safe kitchen environment
  • Time management to meet production targets
  • In time:

  • Oversee kitchen operations independently with a kitchen hand

  • Manage inventory and ordering stock
  • Assist with recipe development and costings

CAPABILITIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Strong prep and bulk cooking experience
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

Desired:

  • Experience with kitchen systems and scaling production
  • Interest in healthy, organic, anti-inflammatory food
  • Previous involvement in recipe development and costings

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (essential)
  • Commercial cookery qualification (desired but not essential)
