About the Position

We are looking to welcome either a Specialist Educator or Allied Health Practitioner (Psychologist or Speech Pathologist) to work closely with school communities to enhance access, participation, and achievement for students through consultations with schools and key stakeholders, as well as engage in school-based therapeutic interventions to achieve key educational outcomes for students. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of children and families.

  • Level 6 SCHCADS Award.
  • Salary range: $110,110 - $114,984 + Superannuation.
  • Government funded until 31 January 2026 with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing high quality, trauma-informed therapeutic services to children, in both individual and group settings, to enhance functional skills.
  • Providing specialised developmental and trauma-informed consultancy to education team members.
  • Maintain a client case load as negotiated with the Program Coordinator of the SDSS program.
  • Facilitating and strengthening supportive relationships between children and the key adults in their educational setting.
  • Working in partnership with Act for Kids team members, education and health professionals and additional stakeholders to enhance student outcomes.

About You

  • Either a tertiary qualification in Education, or in Psychology or Speech Pathology.
  • Current registration with the relevant Registration Board, where applicable.
  • Minimum two years' experience working with children, young people and their families or at least two years' experience working in similar roles.
  • Post grad qualifications in inclusion/trauma informed practice (desirable).
  • Experience working with children, young people and their families.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy to children, young people and their families.
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child and family functioning.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Legal ability to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required).
