About this Position:

Lismore City Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced persons for three key positions within our Commercial Team, supporting the delivery of the Flood Restoration Portfolio:

  • Contract Managers
  • Contract Administrators
  • Claims Analyst

These roles are integral to ensuring the efficient, transparent, and accountable management of contracts, claims, and commercial processes associated with the city's recovery and rebuilding efforts.

About the Roles:

1. Contract Managers

Responsible for overseeing major contractual arrangements within the Flood Restoration Portfolio, including:

  • Leading end-to-end contract lifecycle management.
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement frameworks and legislative requirements.
  • Managing contractor relationships to ensure delivery of quality outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to protect Council's commercial interests.

2. Contract Administrators

Supporting the execution and administration of contracts, including:

  • Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining contract documentation.
  • Monitoring contractor performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Coordinating variations, extensions, and reporting processes.
  • Ensuring accurate record-keeping and adherence to audit standards.

3. Claims Analysts

Specialist positions focused on financial and claims management, including:

  • Reviewing, validating, and processing claims in accordance with funding guidelines.
  • Liaising with stakeholders to ensure claims are substantiated, accurate, and submitted on time.
  • Identifying inconsistencies and providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Supporting transparent financial governance of the Flood Restoration Portfolio.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong knowledge of contract management, procurement, and/or claims administration in the construction sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial responsibilities in a construction or infrastructure environment.
  • High attention to detail, analytical capability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • A commitment to supporting Lismore's recovery and rebuilding efforts.
  • Previous experience in a local government context is desirable.

  • The proven ability to understand complex financial information and work to established processes under government legislative frameworks.
  • Excel and mathematical skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to pick up information quickly and accept on-the-job feedback.
  • The ability to read and interpret contracts in an infrastructure environment.
  • Excellent computer skills / the ability to learn new systems.
  • Respond to queries efficiently and professionally.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be resilient and handle complex and sensitive inquiries.
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to identify and suggest changes.

Additional details:

  • Term Contract: Contracted hours of work 35 hours a week/70 hours a fortnight up to 30 June 2027.
