Dental Assistant

We are seeking an exceptional Dental Assistant to join our clinic team, providing outstanding patient support and care for our all patients and dental professionals. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere while ensuring efficient operations. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, highly organised, possesses excellent communication skills, and demonstrates a strong ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Minimal Reception Duties and Assistant:
Communicate clearly with patients including greeting patients warmly and create a friendly, personable and professional atmosphere in the waiting area.
- From time to time, cover front desk tasks including booking patient appointments to ensure efficient scheduling and minimise wait times, answering phone calls, directing enquiries, communicating appointment reminders, follow-up calls, and assisting with any pre-visit instructions.
- Undertake and review clinic reporting and escalate as requested.
Patient Care Coordination:
Work collaboratively with other dental professionals to ensure smooth patient transitions and streamlined workflows.
- Assist in treatment coordination, appointment planning, and follow up on patient quotes
- Provide information to patients on dental procedures, services, oral hygiene recommendations, and post-operative instructions
- Proactively address patient concerns or complaints with empathy and professionalism, escalating as needed.
- Undertake chair side support as required based on staffing needs
- Experience in chairside assisting is required
Clinic Management and Hospitality:
Ensure the reception area, waiting room, surgeries, bathrooms and other common spaces are clean, well-stocked, and organised.
- Proactively arrange for the provision of refreshments and any other amenities to enhance patient comfort, including for family members
- Coordinate maintenance requests, liaise with service providers, inventory of office supplies, clinical materials
- Collaborate with the dental team to enhance the overall patient experience and foster a welcoming environment
- Undertake patient feedback to improve and enhance patient experience
- Liase with team members in Sydney head office with regard to our 'patient-centric' focus
- Report to Practice Manager
Qualifications:
- Relevant training is essential such as Cert III in Dental Assisting or equivalent
- Australian work rights are essential for this position
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience as a dental receptionist, or clinic assistant
- 1-2 years of dental receptionist or clinic assistant experience is required
- Exceptional customer support skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise competing demands
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating a professional and empathetic manner
- Proficient in using dental practice management software, scheduling systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance processes is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion is essential
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a team-oriented environment
