Mount Scopus Memorial College is a co-educational Jewish School from Early Learning to Year 12 across three campuses; St Kilda East, Caulfield South and Burwood. Our primary schools are located at each of the three campuses - St Kilda East (Early Learning - Year 2), Caulfield South (Early Learning & Year 3) and Burwood (Year 4-6).

As Literacy Leader, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our whole-school literacy strategy, from Prep to Year 6.
We invite Leaders with a growth mindset and a passion for lifelong learning, who are inspired and motivated to work in a demanding learning environment, to apply for the Literacy Leader position available commencing from Term 1, 2026. The position is a permanent full time role.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated educator to drive excellence in literacy across all subjects. You'll work closely with teachers, students, and parents to cultivate a school-wide culture of reading, writing, and communication. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring staff:
Providing professional development and support to teachers on effective literacy instruction. - Curriculum development:
Designing and implementing engaging literacy programs that align with the Victorian Curriculum and the school's educational goals. - Data-driven decisions:
Analysing student literacy data to identify trends, inform teaching practices, and track progress. - Resource management:
Selecting and implementing a range of literacy resources, including digital tools and a rich selection of books. - Fostering a love of reading:
Organising school-wide literacy events, such as author visits, book fairs, and reading challenges, to inspire students.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced educator with a deep understanding of literacy pedagogy. You will possess:
- Proven experience:
A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with a strong background in literacy instruction and leadership. - Qualifications:
A relevant teaching qualification and a Master's degree in Education (or a related field) is highly desirable. VIT registration is mandatory - Knowledge:
a sound understanding of the Child Safe Standards and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children. - Excellent communication skills:
The ability to build strong relationships with all members of the school community. - Innovative mindset:
A passion for staying up-to-date with the latest research and trends in literacy education. - Alignment with our values:

Knowledge and Curriculum Leadership:
Demonstrated high level understanding of initiatives in student learning including the Standards, the Principles of Learning and Teaching and Assessment and Reporting Advice and the capacity to provide leadership in the alignment of these areas.
Leading Teaching and Learning:
Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills and the capacity to support colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning.
Data-Informed Practice and Assessment:
Exemplary ability to monitor, assess, and report on student learning. Demonstrated capacity to lead teachers in using a range of data to inform and refine teaching practice, provide targeted feedback, and drive student growth.
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:
Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents and other staff and contribute to the leadership and management of the school.
Commitment to Professional Growth and Values:
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning for self and others. A clear ability to model and promote the College values and lead with integrity, resilience, and a forward-thinking mindset.
