An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and qualified Head Distiller to join our tight-knit team. Reporting to the Business Manager, this position is responsible for production of our range of premium spirits ensuring high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations. We are looking for a hands-on operator with ambitions to make their mark in the Australian craft spirits industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Management of the distillation and packaging operations including operating distillery equipment and machinery
  • Productivity and efficiency, scheduling, purchasing, budgeting, blending, spirits and transfers
  • Production Planning & Scheduling ensuring availability of required stock levels, raw materials purchase, dispatch of product
  • Manage safety and environmental controls and ensure maintenance schedules are developed and implemented
  • Establish and maintain systems to ensure all relevant information and reporting regarding meet statutory requirements including ATO reporting requirements and record keeping
  • Research and new product development, including materials & ingredients sourcing and production trials for potential new product lines, collaborations and limited-edition releases
  • Engage with cellar door visitors on occasion, brand activations, events as required, master distiller experiences and further help to promote our brand and products

To succeed in this position, you will possess the following:

  • Qualifications in a science, wine making, distilling, brewing or manufacturing discipline
  • Two (2) + years distilling experience
  • Site and operations management experience in distilling
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a small, tight-knit team;
  • A positive attitude with drive and determination
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet multiple deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in writing policies and procedures and completing compliance paperwork
  • Current Tasmanian RSA
  • Good knowledge of current OH&S laws and requirements
