About the role
We are looking for an experienced Librarian to support the College community in the continued promotion of the philosophy of the College, which is founded on the Mission Statement. This role is responsible for managing the resource/library services at the College and providing an efficient and effective service to students and staff.
Duties
As a Librarian, you will:
- Organise procedures and systems for library services;
- Manage and maintain the library database and records management system, the automated library system, inter-library liaison and loan facilities;
- Operate the computerised circulation system to issue, discharge and reserve resources;
- Manage and undertake cataloguing of library items, including classifying, registering and tracking records within the records system;
- Assist Heads of Departments or teachers to select teaching and learning resources, integrate library resources, technologies and information in a way that supports planning and teaching needs and specific learning activities;
- Manage requests for library records information;
- Provide librarian assistance to staff and students needing to select a range of internal or external resources and technologies;
- Select resources to support the information needs of the College community;
- Oversee effective management of electronic recording and storage mediums found in the College library;
- Oversee the effective storage for hard copy and digital images and historical records at the College;
Skills, experience and attributes required
- The Librarian should possess suitable qualifications for a University, a postgraduate qualification and/or extensive experience.
- The Librarian should be able to demonstrate analytical abilities and problem solving.
- The Librarian should have effective communication, organisational and personnel management skills.
- The Librarian should have knowledge and understanding of Copyright legislation required to be followed by schools.
- Microsoft Office and database skills are required.
- A Current First Aid Certificate would be desirable but not essential.
- Must possess a valid Blue Card.
